THIS EVENT HAS PASSED. HOWEVER, YOU CAN CONTINUE TO DONATE AND PURCHASE WINE BOXES WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.
In 2020, the inaugural Soul of Seatle was held at the Northwest African American Museum. Thirteen Black Chefs and Black Beverage Leaders offered their culinary talents to guests through the food that best represents them. VIP dinner guests were treated to a multi-course dinner curated by Chef Jordan and Toni Tipton-Martin, James Beard award-winning food and nutrition journalist, highlighting dishes of two centuries of African American ancestral food. The night included a silent auction and other activities.
With things quickly changing less than a month after the event, the need for support for Black-owned businesses had immensely grown. In 2021, the Soul of Seattle went virtual and focused on directly helping the participating Black-owned businesses as well as another nonprofit organization that empowers youth of color in Seattle.
February 10, 2024, The Soul of Seattle is back and in-person. Twenty Black chefs and beverage leaders will feature their favorite dish and beverage to attending guests while guests enjoy soulful sounds of music from Seattle’s own DJ Twilight.
VIP dinner guests will experience a five-course dinner curated by celebrity chef Jerome Brown, chef to the stars, Food Network Xtreme chef, and author of Carolina Soul and Eat Like a Celebrity. Chef Jerome, affectionately known as Chef Rome, will create dishes paired with wines from Washington’s first Black women winemaker, Shae Frichette, winemaker, and co-owner of Frichette Winery. VIP guests will also enjoy the smooth sounds of the Fredy Andres Trio.
